Sexual and reproductive rights include the human right of every person to have control over and decide freely and responsibly on matters related to their sexuality. The exercise of these rights requires mutual respect, consent and shared responsibility for sexual behavior and its consequences.
Sexual and reproductive rights also include:
- the basic right of all couples and individuals to decide freely and responsibly the number and spacing of their children, and to have the information, education and means to do so;
- the right to attain the highest standard of sexual and reproductive health;
- and the right to make decisions concerning reproduction free of discrimination, coercion, or violence.
Los derechos sexuales y reproductivos incluyen el derecho de todas las personas a controlar y decidir libre y responsablemente sobre temas relacionados con su sexualidad. El ejercicio de este derecho requiere respeto mutuo, el consentimiento y la responsabilidad compartida en virtud del comportamiento sexual y sus consecuencias.
Los derechos sexuales y reproductivos también incluyen:
- el derecho fundamental de todas las parejas e individuos a decidir libre y responsablemente el número de hijos o hijas que desean procrear así como el momento de hacerlo
- el derecho a recibir información, educación y los medios para tomar dichas decisiones,
- el derecho a servicios de salud sexual y reproductiva de la más alta calidad y
- el derecho a tomar decisiones sobre su salud reproductiva sin ser objeto de discriminación, coerción o violencia.
